Ladies Night Out

Ladies, y'all deserve a night out every once in a while [or every weekend]....and it can be so incredibly hard to find a place where the environment is fun [aka not having creepy men hit on you all the time] and where you feel free to let loose! I reached out to my best girl friends and asked them to write a paragraph on their go-to GNO place and why they like it so much! I hope y'all enjoy!
5. Sarah: Stella's Fish Cafe! Rooftops are my go-to whenever I want to enjoy the perfect Minnesota summer night and Stella's has a reputation for a good time! Gather your girlfriends and head on over to Uptown because they truly do have the best menu. I like to start my night out with some appetizers to share among the table...our favorites are their Fresh Fried Calamari or their Champagne Mussels [absolutely to die for]. From cooked seafood to raw, the menu pretty much has anything you could want, but let's get down to the best part...dessert! It's probably the most boring item you could get...but I'm obsessed with the Key Lime Pie (I promise it's better than the other Key Lime Pie's). After our late dinner, we like to stay and enjoy their dance floor.
4. Claire: Wine and Canvas! I genuinely can not think of a more fun GNO activity than getting a little wine drunk and paint! On top of that, Groupon always runs some sort of deals for local Wine and Canvas places so that you never have to pay full price for one! When you walk in you immediately get an apron and place your drink order. The last time (last week) that we did this it was bottomless wine margaritas instead of wine and boy was it amazing! Also, the wonderful part of canvasing is that you don't have to be good [I mean..like you don't have to be the slightest bit good and you won't mess it up]! The instructor does an amazing job at taking it step by step and walking you through how to create a masterpiece! My typical wine and canvas nights sessions usually have lasted around 3 hours so make sure you set enough time aside in the evening to enjoy it!
3. Karen: Marvel Bar. For a special night out, I look for places that have good cocktails, provide an occasion to dress up, and offer a unique atmosphere. Marvel Bar is located in the North Loop and provides this perfect combination. It is designed as a speakeasy, hidden behind a purple door with only a bouncer marking its existence to the unknowing eye. From their drink names to the bar's decor, they truly put so much thought into all the small details. They offer many speciality drinks from their Oliveto to their Candycane [you can't go wrong with any of them]. Definitely go check them out if you want a more classy and calm night out with the girls!
2. Megan: Nelson's Ice Cream Shop! I don't think you can even call it a GNO without ice cream. This place will literally make your mouth water by walking in the door. If you can't pick one flavor because the white chocolate raspberry truffle, French silk pie and brownie s'more all sound equally delicious, then get them all in one cup (not like that's what I get every time I go or anything...). I chose the "child's" cup, which no child could ever finish because they pack it and stack it real high with close to 5 scoops of ice cream - maybe 6 if you dress up a bit and get a cute guy as a scooper! Plus, if you're feeling filled to the brim and in desperate need of exercise after scarfing down that much ice cream, just roam down downtown Stillwater and enjoy the amazing atmosphere by the St. Croix River!
1. KateAnn: Twins Game! Can anyone say STUDENT DAY...this means $1.00 hot dogs, $5.00 student tickets (have your student ID at the box office) and free Metro Transit rides to and from the field EVERY Wednesday! I mean, can it get any better than that (the answer is yes, but only if it's the Nationals instead of the Twins). If you know me in the slightest bit, you know I am a big fan of baseball. I can not think of much that would be a nice summer night out at the ball park with your girlfriends. Grab a beer and relax for hours! It's a great way to wind down after a long workday and forget about all of life's complications.
We would LOVE to hear your favorite GNO places so email me or comment on my latest instagram post your suggestions!
Sincerely,
KateAnn
